Midtown Manhattan is one of the most heavily trafficked dining destinations in the world, and yet genuinely great omakase — the kind built on Edomae tradition, dry-aged fish, and Japanese sourcing — remains surprisingly rare here. Atto Sushi at 875 3rd Avenue is the answer. Positioned in Midtown East, we're accessible from virtually every corner of Midtown: a short taxi or subway from Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Bryant Park, or the Theatre District, and walking distance from the heart of the East Side.
Why Atto is Midtown's Best Omakase
Most Midtown sushi restaurants are built for volume: wide menus, fast tables, reliable but rarely remarkable fish. Atto was built differently. The entire operation revolves around one thing: the quality of what lands on your rice. To that end, we source fish from Japan multiple times per week — not from a domestic distributor's Japanese import line, but from the same regional suppliers that supply Tokyo's finest sushiya. Bluefin tuna from Japan's northern coasts, snapper from Kyushu, uni from Hokkaido.
Once it arrives, we dry-age each fish variety in-house. Dry-aging is the technique that separates Atto from nearly every other sushi counter in Midtown. It requires precise temperature and humidity control, knowledge of each species' ideal aging window, and time that most high-volume restaurants won't invest. The result is fish with a depth of flavor — concentrated, nuanced, occasionally with an almost savory intensity — that you simply cannot get from fresh-only preparations.
The Omakase Experience at Atto
Dinner Omakase: 12 Courses, $115
The Dinner Omakase is the definitive Atto experience. Twelve courses, served Monday through Saturday from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM, progressing from seasonal small plates — often a house-made silken tofu, a composed dish with the evening's featured fish — into a full nigiri sequence. Every piece is presented to you directly from the chef's hands, not assembled and plated in a back kitchen. The pace is deliberate. The counter is intimate. There's nothing else in Midtown like it at this price.
Lunch Omakase: 8 Courses, $85
Lunch runs Monday through Friday, 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The Lunch Omakase compresses the experience into 8 courses at $85 — genuinely one of the best value omakase lunches in Manhattan. For Midtown office workers hosting clients or celebrating a milestone, it's the meal that makes an impression without a three-hour commitment. Lunch specials at $30 (5 nigiri) and $50 (8 nigiri) are available for quicker visits.
