Sushi & Omakase Near Upper East Side, NYC

Walk South on 3rd Avenue to Atto Sushi — 875 3rd Ave, Lower Level, Midtown East

For Upper East Side residents looking for a genuine Edomae omakase, Atto Sushi is closer than you might think. Head south on 3rd Avenue from 59th Street, and you'll reach us at 875 3rd Ave (between 52nd and 53rd) in about ten minutes on foot.

Edomae Sushi Worth the Short Trip

Atto specializes in Edomae-style omakase, a traditional approach that celebrates the flavors of rice and seasonal seafood. The chef carefully ages select fish — aging time varies based on fish type, fat content, freshness, and desired taste profile. Aging allows the texture to soften and the flavors to deepen, most notably with medium-fatty tuna, which develops a melt-in-your-mouth texture and concentrated umami.

After a Museum Day on Museum Mile

The Upper East Side's Museum Mile stretches from the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 82nd Street down to the Frick Collection near 70th. An afternoon at the Met followed by dinner at Atto is a natural pairing — the 6 train from 77th Street to 51st Street runs in under ten minutes, dropping you a block from our door. The combination makes for a genuinely excellent day in the city without ever crossing into the West Side.

For gallery-goers spending time in the 60s and 70s East, the same logic applies: Atto is close enough to plan around, and distinctive enough to make the evening feel complete.

Getting to Atto from the Upper East Side

By Subway

From 59th Street/Lexington Avenue, take the downtown 6 train to 51st Street. Exit near 3rd Avenue, then walk one block north to 875 3rd Ave. If you take the 4 or 5, get off at Grand Central–42nd Street and either walk north or transfer to the 6. From further up the UES (68th, 77th, 86th Street stations), add a stop or two on the 6.

On Foot from the Lower Upper East Side

If you're near 59th Street and 3rd Avenue — just south of Bloomingdale's — it's a pleasant twelve-minute walk south to our entrance. 3rd Avenue is a straightforward pedestrian corridor, and you'll pass through the transition from Upper East Side retail into the Midtown East office district as you approach.

By Car or Rideshare

From the UES, a rideshare to 875 3rd Ave typically takes 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. Drop-off is on 3rd Avenue; street parking is also available on the side streets between 2nd and 3rd Avenues in the low 50s.
